FAQ // 05

Questions, answered

How does leasing on to CTS work?

Lease your truck on to CTS and drive as a W-2 employee with a separate equipment lease, so the arrangement complies with federal and California (AB5) rules. You keep 65% of linehaul revenue; CTS keeps 35%. Full lease terms are provided in writing before you sign.

What is the revenue split?

65/35. You keep 65% of linehaul revenue and CTS keeps 35%.

Are there hidden fees or chargebacks?

No. Every deduction is itemized in your written lease, which you receive before you sign.

Is there a fuel card?

Yes. Lease-on drivers get fuel card benefits.

What happens if a customer slows down?

We keep you moving with backup and alternative work, so a slow customer does not mean an idle truck.

Am I a W-2 employee?

Yes. You drive as a W-2 employee, and your tractor is covered by a separate equipment lease. That structure keeps the arrangement compliant with federal and California (AB5) rules.

What tractor do I need?

A road-ready, CARB-compliant tractor that you own or hold the lease on. Most of the work is dry van and power-only.

How much experience do I need?

A minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience.

Do I need a TWIC card or tanker endorsement?

You need both, or the willingness to obtain them — we help with the process. Tanker work is seldom required.

What does “in good standing” with Amazon, FedEx, UPS, Union Pacific and BNSF mean?

You cannot be banned or on a do-not-return list at any of those customers’ or railroads’ facilities. We run into all of them regularly.

What will I haul, and where?

90%+ dry van and power-only, with occasional drayage and tanker work. Local Southern California routes, non-hazardous freight only, home every day.

Is there any regional work?

Yes. The core work is local Southern California, home every day, and occasional regional runs are available to both employee drivers and owner operators.
